Kydex Crafting Night

CKDF will host a crafting session to help members create additional protective gear using Kydex.

Kydex is a form of plastic which, when heated, can be made into shapes ideal to protect key areas that can be struck while sparring.

John Durish will assist interested members in crafting Kydex into armor plates to augment or replace existing gear - for example, forearm guards or shoulder pads. Other crafting aspects include affixing the Kydex to one's fencing kit; this will be explained at the crafting session, but not done there.

Space is limited to the first 10 club members who sign up (the primary limits are tooling and power). Anyone wishing to observe is free to do so.

There is no cost for this event, however, participants must bring their own Kydex. It is readily available online (example product link here). Any color of Kydex can be used, but it is recommended participants purchase sheets 12" x 24" in dimension, with a thickness of .080". Sheets 12" x 12" in size are also okay, but not optimal.

Since we need electricity for the tools we will be using, this session will occur at our Nannie Lee location. If we are rained out, the event will be postponed to a later Monday.
